Dave is a mystery, wrapped inside an enigma, wrapped inside another, larger mystery, wrapped inside a crunchy tortilla shell. Some speculate his real name is Francis Q. Jackboots, but those people are stupid and dumb and know nothing of funny names.
Dave is a staple of the anime con circuit. He has been attending conventions since 2003, where he found the wonders of being in the same room as several thousand people dressed up as Ash Ketchum at Ohayocon. Since then, he has been to nearly 75 conventions all around the Midwestern United States. It’s safe to say that if you go to any convention anywhere in the Ohio/Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky area that you’ll find him (not) hard at work doing something.
An avid consumer of most things Japanese, Dave is a hardcore (not really) anime fan, gamer, tournament commentator, State Representative, and (on off-days) a party clown. There are allegations of him also being a ninja, but those are quickly silenced with excessive force.
On a more serious note, Dave also writes the occasional article for the good folks over at Borderline Hikikomori. They pay him in peanuts, which he then sacrifices to his elephant god.
